Week 3 XFL DFS Picks (2023) – Jahcour Pearson and Other Top Plays

Looking for XFL DFS picks for week 3? I’ve got you covered, as I’ll go over some of my favorite plays for this week’s slate.

There are a lot of guys that project well, but might be too pricey. That, or we’ll later find out that they’re a bit too owned. I’ll consider all of that as I point you to some of my favorite plays, and provide you with my reasoning.

Without further haste, here are my top four XFL DFS picks for week 3.

Nick Holley, RB, Houston Roughnecks ($3k)

It is too early to know how chalky Holley will be, but judging by the volatility of his role, I would not at all be shocked if he’s actually somewhat contrarian.

Holley played a whopping 94% of the snaps last week, and even hauled in a touchdown.

His actual workload is concerning, but he’s seeing the field a ton.

His versatility makes him invaluable to the Roughnecks, so if his touches and targets start picking up, he could smash his price tag. I think if he’s going to go overlooked, he’s one of the more compelling week 3 XFL DFS sleepers.

Sal Cannella, TE, Arlington Renegades ($7.1k)

I don’t want to target running backs much when playing XFL DFS. They simply are too volatile, as we saw zero players top even 15 rushing attempts in week two.

This is a league where we should use the one RB we like – whether it’s a value like Holley or a possible stud – and then focus on rostering the top pass-catchers.

One of those is Cannella, who is among the few XFL tight ends you should actively be looking to use at Draft Kings.

He’s categorized as a wide receiver on DK for all intents and purposes, so all you really need to know is he saw the field 91% of the time in week two.

Cannella has a nice role, and eventually his field time and targets are going to lead to a touchdown or two. I wouldn’t worry about ownership here, and just buy into that logic and move along.

Jahcour Pearson, WR, Seattle Sea Dragons ($9k)

To be fair, wide receivers in the XFL can honestly be just as shaky as running backs.

The teams tend to rotate guys in and out, and the fact that they switch quarterbacks without any notice can also mess up chemistry.

That means you can take chances left and right, but the one constant so far in 2023 is Pearson. Despite sharing the field with a much bigger name is Josh Gordon, he’s been the one crushing so far this season.

  • Week 1: 12 catches, 14 targets, 95 yards
  • Week 2: 8 targets, 4 catches, 78 yards, 1 touchdown

I still like Gordon just fine, but Pearson played 96% of his team’s snaps in week two, and his production demands he keeps getting opportunities.

A.J. McCarron, QB, St. Louis BattleHawks ($10.6k)

Since I am paying down to get Holley, I’ll have plenty of salary to get a top flight passer, in addition to whatever receivers I’d like.

McCarron is an easy guy to root for, as he’s delivered in the clutch in successive weeks, and is also out there playing for his family.

Narratives aside, McCarron is flat out getting it done.

He’s got a solid supporting cast around him, too, and if he can simply start games a bit faster, he could be the top quarterback in the XFL.

Filling Out the Rest of Your Week 3 XFL DFS Lineup

This is my core for week three. Things can change, as players can randomly be deactivated in this league, but I like the savings Holley provides, and I am willing to pay for the stability of guys like Cannella and Pearson.

You can certainly make an argument to go for a more contrarian receiver, and/or to pay up for a more reliable running back.

Doing both makes sense if you’re entering a lot of XFL DFS lineups, but given the nature of this league, I will look to make minor tweaks and use one lineup in a Single Entry tourney.

Whatever you do, hopefully my week 3 XFL DFS picks serve you well. Good luck!
