3 Players You’ll Want to Fade in Week 14 NFL DFS

  • Jake Browning is dirt cheap, but he also feels like an easy fade in Week 14.
  • Another week 14 fade if Bijan Robinson, who faces a stiff Bucs run D.
  • You may want to fade Elijah Moore, who hasn’t done much with his targets.

The NBA’s final in-season tournament game arrives on Saturday, and regular CFB slates are gone. Naturally, my brain is thinking of one thing and one thing only; what to do for week 14 NFL DFS.

There is so much to consider, whether it be the top week 14 NFL DFS picks, or which popular options should be faded. I do think there’s some high-owned options on the slate that look like good chalk (going back to the Zack Moss well), but there’s a lot we probably should just fade, too.

With that, I’m pushing out my top 3 NFL DFS fades for the week at DraftKings. I’m using ownership data from RotoGrinders.com, so feel free to go there to see who else is poppin’ in terms of ownership.

In addition, I’ll offer a pivot off of each chalky player, too. Fight me in the comments, bro.

Jake Browning, QB, Bengals ($5.2k)

Don’t get me wrong, Browning actually looked really good last week. He has some rapport with a suddenly very healthy (and good) supporting cast, and he’s dirt cheap at DraftKings.

By all accounts, he’s a smash play at this price. It’s not always that easy when it comes to hammering in NFL DFS picks, of course, while Indy isn’t quite the juicy matchup we may make them out to be.

Browning is a fine stack option and he’s a good value. That said, he is projecting for over 16% ownership at DK. There’s not telling if that sticks, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t, and I won’t be shocked if he’s owned even more than that.

If a not-exactly-great quarterback is going to be that chalky, I am a full Team Fade. There are not a lot of true pivots to love, so I’d rather just pay up for Justin Fields. He’s $6.8k and gets a less than elite Lions defense that he dropped 24 fantasy points on just a few weeks ago.

Bijan Robinson, RB, Falcons ($6.5k)

The price and role are good. Bijan Robinson has survived the roller coaster of being Arthur Smith’s top running back, and has bounced back with 10+ fantasy points in each of his last three contests.

He’s an elite talent that can easily make me look silly. However, there are a ton of interesting pivots in guys like Joe Mixon, Rachaad White, and there’s even top studs like C-Mac or punts like CEH.

Robinson can get there, but he is carrying 26% ownership right now. I will fade that all day and save cash with cheaper options (who happens to have huge roles) and then try to get stud WRs instead.

Elijah Moore, WR, Browns ($4.5k)

Believe me, I see the upside here. Moore is in theory a really solid talent, and his role is projected to be massive. That’s especially the case if Amari Cooper can’t roll out there on Sunday.

Oh, and he just saw 12 targets last week and has a (I think?) competent passer now in Joe Flacco. In theory, we’re looking at the best combination of role, talent, and situation that Moore has ever seen.

Of course, Moore hasn’t really done much when he’s been handed gobs of targets. He turned his 12 targets of a week ago into just four catches and 12.3 fantasy points.

That’s a big bowl of “meh” if you ask me.

He’s also had 7+ targets in eight different games in 2023, and he’s topped 12 fantasy points just three times all season. So, the price and role are great. However, the efficiency and past production simply is not.

I think I’d rather eat a chalky Drake London than a chalky Moore this week.

Other Chalky Players to Fade in Week 14

  • David Njoku, TE, Browns ($4.1k)
  • Cleveland Browns Defense ($3k)
  • Christian McCaffrey, RB, 49ers ($9.2k)

Fading the Browns across the board feels kinda right. They’re depending on a really old quarterback who is washed, and wasn’t good enough to get a job until just a couple of weeks ago.

Their defense has also regressed, with 7, 3, and -1 fantasy points over the past three weeks. If all of these Cleveland options are going to be the chalk, we should go out of our way to go a different route.

There’s also C-Mac, who is obviously awesome and a good bet to approach 20+ fantasy points. I don’t hate it, but he’s also very pricey and the Niners face a Seahawks team with a lot to play for.

Even despite that, I just prefer stud wide receivers on this slate, and don’t see a $9k running back as a priority to cram into my week 14 NFL DFS lineups.

There, those are my key week 14 NFL DFS fades. Let me hear your top fades in the comments, or why you disagree on my calls above. Thanks for reading, and good luck this week!
