UFL DFS Sleepers for Week 9

The 2024 UFL season rages on with another 4-game slate scheduled for week nine. It should be a fun time, but it’ll be even better if you can make some money while watching it.

I already pushed out my favorite week 9 UFL DFS picks, but I figured anyone playing this slate may be interested in some value. There are several studs worth paying up for on this slate, so let’s see what UFL DFS sleepers should be in our player pool.

Cam’Ron Harris/Darius Hagans, RB, DC ($5.9/$5.8k)

Have fun figuring out which one of these dudes will pan out – if either of them. However, what we do know is they both will get touches, and that they’re cheap.

The DC offense is not typically one that takes to the air a ton. They threw the ball 40 times last week, but hadn’t topped even 24 passing attempts since week two. If they have their way, they’ll keep the ball on the ground as much as possible – and why wouldn’t they? A date with the league’s worst defense against fantasy running backs awaits them.

Of the two, Harris feels like the tougher to trust. He has just six carries for -1 yards over his last two games and simply has not been efficient to this point. Hagans, meanwhile, saw eight carries last week and 13 rushes three games ago.

Hagans feels like the way to go here, but with the best possible matchup on the ground this week, both of these cheap RBs should be on your radar.

T.J. Pledger, RB, Houston ($6k)

I also should mention Nate McCrary in the event he can make it back from an injury, as he’s just $4k. However, as least we know Pledger is going to play, and he’s had a role with 11 carries in each of his last two games.

That role is enough to get me somewhat interested if I am looking to save some salary. Pledger hasn’t scored yet this year and will face a Michigan defense that ranks 2nd against fantasy running backs, but the role at his price is worth noting.

Deontay Burnett, WR, Arlington ($5.8k)

It’s admittedly hard to quit Burnett, who has had several stops in the NFL and has flashed potential both at USC in college and in the XFL.

Burnett has never fully realized his potential, and so far with Arlington he’s been an overlooked commodity. While he’s far from the top option on his squad, he has a capable quarterback throwing him passes in Luis Perez, and he’s still involved (3+ targets in 7 of 8 games).

This is a price play for me, especially if you have interest in rostering Perez. J.P. Payton and Tyler Vaughns are safer WR plays within this offense, but Burnett is cheaper and possesses big play ability.

Kevin Austin Jr., WR, Birmingham ($5.1k)

Speaking of big play ability, my favorite week 9 UFL DFS sleeper is easily Austin. He was quiet last week with just 20 yards on two catches, but he made some noise in his previous two outings.

Both games saw him score, while he popped off for 108 receiving yards back in week 6 against Memphis. We probably should have known, though, judging off of his 40-yard dash time.

Austin clearly has explosive ability, and that’s a dangerous thing when you pair him with a rising talent like quarterback Adrian Martinez. Other guys within the Birmingham offense might offer a safer floor, but the upside – particularly with this week’s matchup looking fairly daunting – is calling to me.

Finding Value in UFL DFS Contests in Week 9

There isn’t a lot of value to be had in week 9 UFL DFS contests. There are a few running back injuries, but most of the sleeper plays would be coming from poor offenses. That, or the value play we’d be looking at is far behind a more proven option.

If you’re looking for week 9 UFL DFS sleepers, I think it resides with the receivers. There are a few guys that offer decent value, with Kevin Austin Jr. giving us serious upside in an otherwise difficult spot.

A few other cheap receivers like Chris Rowland, Cyril Grayson, and Alex Ellis (all under $5k) project well enough to mention, but I’d start things off with the UFL DFS value picks listed above.
