Tyrese Maxey

Top NBA DFS Picks for Wednesday, 1/25/23 – Which Stud Should You Pay Up For?

Last night’s batch of NBA DFS picks went well. T.J. McConnell smashed, Kyle Kuzma came to life late, and Chris Paul was very solid despite a blowout.

Had CP3 played the whole game, he’d have been one of the top plays on the slate.

LeBron James was the best play last night, but he didn’t make my daily fantasy basketball picks due to price and too much value in the mid-range. Of course, Miami and Boston injuries opened up enough room to get there if you wanted to.

It’s early, but like always, starting your process is never a bad idea. Let’s see who stands out tonight with my three favorite NBA DFS plays at Draft Kings.

T.J. McConnell, PG, Indiana Pacers ($6k)

It’s obviously possible the wheels fall off at some point, but I have no qualms with going right back to the well and eating this chalk.

Tyrese Haliburton is still out, and McConnell has been a monster lately. Just look at what he did last night:

That’s McConnell’s second straight game with 45+ fantasy points, and he’s topped that mark three times over his last five games. His price even came down somehow, so I’m racing to click his name again tonight and moving along.

Tyrese Maxey, SG, Philadelphia 76ers ($6.5k)

I really like Maxey at this price, assuming Joel Embiid is out again tonight. Embiid missed Philly’s last game and Maxey took advantage, scoring 32 real life points.

Per RotoGrinders.com’s CourtIQ, Maxey sees a sick 29% usage rate when Joel is off the floor, and he’s also averaging 1.05 fantasy points per minute.

He looks like a great play against the Nets, but basically all Sixers starters will look good if Embiid isn’t playing tonight.

Nikola Jokic, C, Denver Nuggets ($11.6k)

My favorite stud to target tonight is The Joker. Let’s not forget he’s missed some games lately and is setting up for the second game of a B2B set, but if he’s in, he’s the best play on the board.

LeBron loses some luster with the return of Anthony Davis and Embiid might be out, so Jokic looks the best here. He also leads the slate with a 57.91 fantasy points projection at the moment.

Of course, this could easily lead to Jokic being mega chalk, so that could be a reason to look elsewhere.

That said, he put up 59 fantasy points in his return last night, and he gets a fun, up-tempo matchup with the Bucks.

Other NBA DFS Picks to Consider for Wednesday

  • Kyle Kuzma, PF, Washington Wizards ($8.8k)
  • James Harden, PG, Philadelphia 76ers ($9.9k)
  • Jalen Green, SG, Houston Rockets ($7.5k)
  • Xavier Tillman, C, Memphis Grizzlies ($3.2k)
  • Tari Eason, PF, Houston Rockets ($4.4k)

More value and preferred plays will surely open up. This is a 10-game slate, after all. Kristaps Porzingis is out again, so Kuz once again looks good.

I can’t hate on paying for Harden, seeing that I like Maxey. Both guys are viable, provided Joel Embiid is out again.

Houston is still without KPJ, so Jalen Green (42 real points last game) is looking good. Tillman and Eason are nice value plays, too. Just make sure their roles are confirmed.
