Best MLB DFS Stacks at Draft Kings for Friday, 4/21 (2023)

The last batch of MLB DFS stacks I rolled out were a smashing success. The Cardinals and Pirates were chalky, but I still screamed from the mountain tops that they were bats to use.

On Friday Draft Kings rolls out a fun 12-game slate, which surely won’t enrage us at all.

It’s baseball, so some random offense is going to score 15 runs and ruin everything. But hey, we still need to try to locate the top MLB DFS stacks, right?

Here are the four I like the most for the main slate on April 21st, 2023.

Kansas City Royals

This is a lot like the Dodgers the other day. KC is not in a good spot at all, as they prepare to take on Shohei Ohtani.

However, due to the saliva-inducing matchup for the Halos pitcher, everyone will be firing him up as their SP1. And nobody will be rostering Royals sticks.

There’s very little in Ohtani’s resume we can attack and feel good about, but if he struggles against anyone, it’s lefties.

I’m not an idiot, as it’s still not as if this data points to an Ohtani meltdown.

That said, he does get in trouble with walks, and he gives up more hard contact to the left side of the plate. This could be problematic against a KC offense that has quite a few left-handed hitters they can toss into the lineup.

KC is not my primary stack on this slate, and I will probably still start my build process centering around Ohtani. But some exposure to the Royals as the ultimate hedge stack may be worth considering.

New York Yankees

Okay, now that we have the riskiest MLB DFS stack for Friday out of the way, let’s dive into one that should be safer and probably a lot more fun.

That’s none other than the pinstripes, who will be at home in a hitter’s haven against Yusei Kikuchi.

The Toronto southpaw has been a mixed bag this year, and he’s coming off a gem against the Rays.

While the recent form is good, this matchup is a big bowl of wrong for Kikuchi.

First, he is getting hammered so far in 2023. He’s allowed five homers in three starts, and he historically gets eaten alive by viable righty power.

New York has quite a bit of that, as you may know.

The Yanks are a little less troubling with Giancarlo Stanton on the IL, but they still project to have three guys with ISOs north of .252 in tonight’s lineup.

Kikuchi has a nasty 27% whiff rate and the Yanks aren’t at full strength, so he could be a cheap leverage play if New York draws a lot of ownership. But he could also get buried here, which is why they shape up as one of my favorite daily fantasy baseball stacks for 4/21.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers could end up being the highest-owned MLB DFS stack tonight. They are in a good spot against JP Sears, who hasn’t been great so far in 2023.

To this point, he’s given up several long balls and sports a weak ERA.

  • 4.60 ERA
  • 5 HR allowed
  • 15 hits allowed

The only good thing is he isn’t walking a lot of batters and historically he sports a solid 7% walk rate.

Unfortunately, he does not miss bats (17% K rate) enough. Texas does have plenty of whiffs in their lineup, but they also offer a lot of power.

The Rangers could have five or more guys with a .190 or better ISO, and Sears struggles the most against right-handed bats.

Overall, this is a smash spot for Texas. The only issue is they could be chalky, so you may want to pivot to a lower-owned stack on a slate this size.

Seattle Mariners

My last MLB DFS stack for today is the M’s, who will be at home against Steven Matz. Now, Matz is a talented lefty with a solid 25% whiff rate, but the guy is known to implode.

He comes in with a poor 6.48 ERA on the year, and has given up a ton of contact so far in 2023. He could easily slay the Mariners, as they do strikeout a good amount, and they’re a bit all or nothing at times.

That said, Matz gets beaten up by righties (.339 wOBA, .190 ISO, 40.5% hard hit rate), and Seattle wrecks southpaws.

Their projected lineup tonight has six guys with an ISO over .216, so yeah.

Matz can be tough to stack against, but you just need to find the right night. Friday could be it, folks.

That does it for my favorite MLB DFS stacks for April 21, 2023. This is a 12-game slate, so there are literally 20 other teams you can fire up and give a shot.

I’d suggest using at least one of the daily fantasy baseball stacks above in your pool, however.
