Ricky Rubio Set to Return for the Cavaliers on Thursday

Ricky Rubio is finally nearing his return. Per reports, the star Cleveland Cavaliers point guard could suit up on Thursday night, over a year after suffering a torn ACL.

Rubio hasn’t played since last December, when he tore his ACL and ended a successful 2021-22 campaign that saw him average 13.1 points and 6.6 assists per game, which were both improvements from the previous year.

Cleveland has risen up the ranks this season and currently sits at 5th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 26-16. Their guard play has been stellar, but the depth and leadership Rubio will provide upon his return could give them a significant boost.

Fantasy Impact of Ricky Rubio’s Return

Rubio is largely an emotional lift for the Cavs, who have been getting along just fine without him. As for as fantasy sports is concerned, he’s little more than a depth add in season long leagues.

That said, Rubio will eventually ramp his minutes up and could be a solid value play in games where Donovan Mitchell or Darius Garland sit out.
