Devin Booker being guarded by Fred VanVleet

3 Best NBA DFS Picks for 10/24/23 – Top Plays for Opening Night

The first slate of the 2023-24 NBA regular season is upon us. NBA DFS preseason was a hell of a ride if you partook.

Either way, the real thing is here, and the first slate has a ton of stars despite offering just two games.

You will want to know who to prioritize and who to fade, so let’s dive into my top NBA DFS picks for opening night at DraftKings.

Devin Booker, PG, Phoenix Suns ($8.3k)

Booker is also way too cheap. Kevin Durant and the newly added Bradley Beal could work to limit his upside overall, but Booker is still an elite isolation scorer and a quality playmaker.

With Chris Paul now on the other side, Booker should have the ball in his hands more at the point, and should be free to create more offense.

His jump from the regular season to the playoffs may suggest improved play, too.

In theory, not much changes here, and we can bank on the 46 fantasy points per game Booker was averaging.

When looking at his production and price tag, he’s another possible stud that simply isn’t expensive enough.

It doesn’t hurt, either, that he slayed the Warriors (47.7 fantasy points per game) across three meetings last season.

Kevin Durant, PF, Phoenix Suns ($8.4k)

Steph Curry and LeBron James are certainly in play (especially if the won’t be owned on a tiny slate), but it’s hard to get away from the Suns on Tuesday.

Yes, they could correlate negatively, but KD is way too cheap for a guy who put up nearly 50 fantasy points per contest a year ago.

Bradley Beal takes away some usage, but he is undeniably third in the pecking order. Just look what he did in just 17 minutes in his last preseason game.

Make no mistake about it; the offense will run through Booker and KD, just as their team-leading 32% and 28% usage rates would suggest.

The price is too good to pass up here. If I get off of this stack, the main reason would be to get different.

Anthony Davis, C, Los Angeles Lakers ($8.9k)

I’m sorry, but these guys are all just too cheap. Steph Curry, James, and Nikola Jokic are all more expensive, and The Joker is the only one that I really feel compelled to pay up for.

Jokic will surely be chalk, however, as he’s actually too cheap, himself.

The Brow has allowed Jokic to eat in recent matchups, but it’s not like Davis hasn’t gotten his, either. Here is a quick look at his numbers against Denver since joining the Lake Show.

Davis can ball, and the Lakers as a whole have been waiting for this opening night matchup.

It may make sense to fade Joker and just play these guys at discounted price tags, as all three can easily pay off these salaries, and then some.

Other Top NBA DFS Plays for 10/24

  • Chris Paul, PG, Warriors ($5.6k)
  • Aaron Gordon, PF, Nuggets ($5.7k)
  • Andrew Wiggins, PF, Warriors ($5.5k)

You don’t need me to tell you that Curry, LeBron, and Jokic are great plays. However, if they’re going to end up carrying hefty ownership, I think the numbers are close enough to just have us take the cheaper options.

It may matter on a slate with precious little value.

Other top NBA DFS picks that could help us create competitive lineups include CP3, Aaron Gordon, and Wiggins.

I’ll dive into some NBA DFS sleepers, too, but these guys all could be pretty important. You can’t pay for everyone on a slate like this, so it’s key to pick your spots.

For now, fading Jokic and the pricier studs makes a ton of sense. Want some advice for week 7 in the NFL, as well? Before the NBA regular season tips off, take advantage of some free advice for this week.
