NBA DFS Picks for Wednesday, 1/11/2023 – Build Around Dejounte Murray

Wednesday offers up a fun eight-game daily fantasy basketball slate. There are a ton of injuries to monitor, and there are two monsters atop the projections.

I have no qualms with paying for Giannis Antetokounmpo or Nikola Jokic on this slate, especially since there will be plenty of value available to us. However, Milwaukee has Jrue Holiday on hand (which can lower The Greek Freak’s ceiling) and The Joker could be involved in a massive blowout.

That brings me to the following four NBA DFS picks to build my lineups around on Wednesday night.

Dyson Daniels, G/F, New Orleans Pelicans ($3.1k)

It won’t be easy to trust the Pels tonight. They’re still without both Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, and they’ll be huge road underdogs against Boston.

Things only get complicated further with Herbert Jones doubtful for this one.

Given the lack of bodies – and likely housing – I would look to Daniels as a solid punt. He could get the start, and he’s a body New Orleans might leave out there in the 4th even if the game is well in hand.

Daniels starts the night with 26 projected minutes and 17.92 projected fantasy points. Obviously you’ll want to consider an appropriate pivot if it presents itself, but that’s not bad for a guy who is almost priced at the minimum.

Zach LaVine, G/F, Chicago Bulls ($8k)

While Daniels is a big bowl of risky, I think we can all agree someone like Zach LaVine is a more stable entree.

LaVine is already a reasonable option at this price. He averages a respectable 38 fantasy points per game on the year, and has turned it up as of late with 48+ fantasy points in each of his last three outings.

He’s also looking at a massive workload with DeMar DeRozan likely out tonight.

LaVine was probably worth a look regardless, but now he’s in a good spot against the Washington Wizards (44.8 fantasy points against them in their first meeting), and he will be tasked with a lot of the scoring.

Dejounte Murray, PG, Atlanta Hawks ($8.2k)

I was already lending a wondering eye towards Murray, but was admittedly interested in his low ownership with Trae Young on hand.

As it turns out, Young won’t be playing tonight.

That makes Murray a core play and probably a must for me.

Murray has absolutely smashed when Young has been sidelined, and he’ll be busy in a fast-paced tilt with the Milwaukee Bucks.

If you check out CourtIQ at RotoGrinders.com, you’ll see Murray has a 28.7 usage rate and averages 1.17 fantasy points per minute when Young is off the floor. I’d expect even better rates tonight against the Bucks.

Domantas Sabonis, C, Sacramento Kings ($10.6k)

Due to their situations, Daniel, LaVine, and Murray may all shape up as fairly chalky plays. I’m hopeful that Sabonis will not.

This, despite the fact that he gets a weak Houston Rockets defense and projects for 52 fantasy points.

Sabonis does have a hefty price tag, but given the amount of value on this slate, many will flock to Jokic or Giannis. That presently has Sabonis coming in at just 11% in terms of ownership.

Will that actually stick? Nobody can know for sure, but he looks like an elite hammer play to cap off a wild night.

Other NBA DFS Picks to Target on Wednesday Night

  • Duane Washington Jr., G, Phoenix Suns ($4.6k)
  • Nerlens Noel, C, Detroit Pistons ($3k)
  • Nikola Vucevic, C, Chicago Bulls ($8.1k)

Washington was a terrific play last night and Phoenix should again be without key bodies. The Pistons are also down their top two bigs, while DeRozan’s absence should also help Vuc.

All three of these guys can easily be worked into your NBA DFS lineups, and this is turning into a slate where you can get basically anyone you want.

Last night’s NBA DFS picks worked out swimmingly and hopefully tonight’s do, too. Good luck!
