NBA DFS Picks for Tuesday, 1/24/23 – Build Around the Pacers?

Tuesday’s daily fantasy basketball slate should be interesting. There are already a good amount of injuries to monitor, while the schedule doesn’t boast a single game with a spread north of 7.5.

That could make for a lot of competitive games, although there may be some traps. The Heat vs. Celtics have a staggeringly low total of 217.5, while the Hornets and Knicks are also in less than ideal spots.

A lot can (and will) change before lineups lock tonight, but I’ll get the ball rolling with my top NBA DFS picks to start the day.

T.J. McConnell, PG, Indiana Pacers ($6.1k)

I’m less interested in McConnell if he’s coming off the bench, as his price has come up quite a bit. However, Tyrese Haliburton remains out, and Andrew Nembhard is also now questionable.

That, and McConnell went off for 55 fantasy points in his last game.

McConnell only has a modest 18% usage with Nembhard and Hali off the floor, but he averages 1.12 fantasy points per minute and he’d be getting lots of burn here.

All of the Pacers are on the board here if Nembhard is out. Myles Turner, Buddy Hield, and Bennedict Mathurin would all look really good. I’d have no qualms with using 2-3 of them tonight.

Chris Paul, PG, Phoenix Suns ($7.5k)

I’d definitely pay attention to team reports as far as CP3’s availability and any possible minutes limit. He played a whopping 38 minutes in his return from injury two games ago, and for some reason he’s only projected for 25 minutes at RotoGrinders.com.

I doubt that sticks, but it’s worth keeping an eye on. That said, he was a boss in his first game back, as he churned out 54.5 fantasy points.

Tonight he gets the Hornets, who push the pace and don’t defend. Phoenix makes this a “meh” 227 total game, but Charlotte could have some influence here.

Provided he plays most of the game, CP3 looks like a smash play. Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton both remain out, too, which further boosts his floor and ceiling.

Kyle Kuzma, PF, Washington Wizards ($7.9k)

I’ll leave you with Kuz, who is going to be awfully busy tonight with Kristaps Porzingis sidelined.

Bradley Beal is back, but Kuz has been a monster lately, and his role will naturally grow with one of Washington’s top scorers out.

Seriously, with Zinger out, Kuzma sports a nastyu 31.3% usage rate and averages 1.15 fantasy points per game.

The matchup with Dallas doesn’t look appealing, but the chances are good that you’re considering paying up for Luka Doncic. If so, you’ll want to run it back with a Wiz and nobody looks better than Kuzma.

Speaking of Doncic, you’re probably either paying for him or Nikola Jokic tonight. The hard work may be done for us if The Joker is ruled out again, of course, so that’s something to monitor.

Of course, comfortably fitting my top daily fantasy basketball picks AND Jokic or Doncic won’t be easy. A core of Luka/Kuz/CP3/TJ only leaves you with $3.9k per player to close things out. It’s quite possibly how I’ll start off my NBA DFS lineups, though.
