NBA DFS Picks for Tuesday, 1/17/23 – Build Around the Nets

I took it easy over the three-day weekend, but was able to profit on a few NFL DFS lineups. Hopefully you enjoyed the break and found some success on MLK Day.

Whatever the case, I’m back at it on Tuesday, where the NBA offers up a tiny four-game slate.

The big focus will be on the status of Giannis Antetokounmpo. He’s sat the past three games for Milwaukee, and he could miss this game, too. Whether he’s out or not, you’re probably looking at him, Nikola Jokic, and Joel Embiid up top.

It’s too small of a slate to fade all of the elite options, so part of your process will be deciding which stud to invest in. With that, let’s go over my three core NBA DFS picks for tonight.

Royce O’Neale, SG, Brooklyn Nets ($5.5k)

Kevin Durant remains out, so like everyone else, I have interest in basically all of the Nets. Kyrie Irving does stand out yet again with one of the best projections of the slate, but I don’t mind fading him and using the guys around him.

Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Nicolas Claxton, and T.J. Warren are all on my radar, but my favorite of the lot is actually O’Neale.

O’Neale turns into Point LeBron whenever a stud misses for Brooklyn, and he plays a ton of minutes. The matchup with the lowly Spurs is also fantastic, so I have no issues stacking up Nets value in this spot.

Jakob Poeltl, C, San Antonio Spurs ($6.2k)

On the other side of that Nets vs. Spurs game is Poeltl. His minutes are trending up, and Brooklyn is a smash spot for centers.

Poeltl’s minutes can often be troubling, but he logged 32 minutes and 38 fantasy points his last time out.

This game as a whole feels very stackable, and Poeltl is simply too cheap for what he can do here.

Nikola Jokic, C, Denver Nuggets ($12k)

I am sure some major injury news will come down at some point, but you already have enough value with the Nets to eye an expensive stud.

My preferred elite option is The Joker, who comes into this slate with the top overall projection at Draft Kings.

Jokic is always a fine choice, and he gets a solid matchup where he’s averaged over 50 fantasy points per game on the year.

He’s also hit 60 fantasy points the last two times he battled Portland.

You need those raw points on a slate like this, so you’re probably looking at Jokic or Embiid, and Jokic feels safer and offers a little more upside.

Hopefully my core daily fantasy basketball picks get you going in the right direction on Tuesday. This is the type of slate you can definitely just take a break on, or keep things light.

I typically roll out one single entry lineup, and that’d be my suggestion here for everyone else, as well.
