NBA DFS Picks for 1/13/23 – 4 Plays to Build Around on Friday

Another NBA DFS slate is upon us on Friday night. Tonight’s slate offers up nine games, and like usual, there should be a good amount of injuries to keep an eye on.

A slate of this size allows you to go in a number of directions, but I’ll probably start with the guys filling in for an injured Tyrese Haliburton.

Keep in mind I am submitting my NBA DFS picks early in the day, but going into Friday, I love the following three options at Draft Kings.

Andrew Nembhard, G, Indiana Pacers ($4.3k)

Let’s get the party started with the Pacers. Nembhard has been starting games regularly for Indy, anyways, but his usage should see a spike with Tyrese Haliburton out.

T.J. McConnell is also worth a look, but Nembhard was logging heavy minutes even before Hali went down (32+ in each of his last five contests). He also averages 34 fantasy points per 36 minutes when Haliburton is off the floor.

In a plus spot at home against the Atlanta Hawks, he’s shaping up as a core play. Again, you can also look to McConnell (perhaps roll with whoever projects for less ownership), while all other Pacers get a boost with Hali off the court.

Nikola Vucevic, C, Chicago Bulls ($8.5k)

I loved Zach LaVine the other day with DeMar DeRozan out, and he’s once again a strong core play with DeRozan listed as doubtful to suit up on Friday.

However, his price has gone up, so I’ll instead be focusing on Vuc, who is the better value between the two.

Vucevic underwhelmed in his last outing, but Friday he gets a terrible OKC interior defense that has struggled to stop centers all year long.

Domantas Sabonis, C, Sacramento Kings ($10.6k)

Just like a couple of days ago, I am on Team Sabonis again on Friday. And why not, since the guy has morphed into a total stud for the Kings.

Sabonis was one dime away from a triple-double the last time I vouched for him, and tonight he draws the same matchup against Houston.

There is some blowout risk here, but the Rockets don’t have anyone that can slow Sabonis down. Here’s what he did to them just days ago.

  • 25 points
  • 14 rebounds
  • 9 assists
  • 55.5 fantasy points

He’s not coming cheap, but the only other stud I’d feel compelled to play is Nikola Jokic. With The Joker questionable to play, this decision could be made pretty easy for me.

Ownership percentages and other injuries could change things greatly. That said, I like this core to start with on Friday, and imagine myself starting NBA DFS lineups with this trio.

Use one of my daily fantasy basketball picks, use two, or use all three. Hopefully they treat you well and you can win big. Good luck!
