NBA DFS Build Process for Friday, 1/13/23 – 3 Players That Could Be Under-Owned

One of the biggest things for daily fantasy basketball players is hopping on low-owned players that can crush. In that same breath, you need to know which high-owned players are worth fading.

I already looked at three of my top NBA DFS picks for 1/13, so for this post I’ll look at three plays that may not be drawing enough ownership.

To be clear, this is very early and things will change greatly later in the day depending on what news comes out. Always keep an eye on updated projections and ownership, but as things stand, these three guys seem to be going a bit overlooked.

Terance Mann, G, Los Angeles Clippers ($4.3k)

  • Present Ownership per RotoGrinders.com: 9.5%

I really doubt this ownership sticks. However, per today’s NBA DFS picks, ownership will flock to the Pacers guard value.

And Mann should be pretty busy with Paul George not playing tonight.

Mann is too cheap for a guy who logged an insane 41 minutes last time out. He’d get a usage bump with PG-13 sidelined, too. If everyone is looking at the Pacers guys or other value, you absolutely should consider cramming Mann into your NBA DFS lineups on Friday.

Alperen Sengun, C, Houston Rockets ($6.9k)

  • Present Ownership per RG: 4.2%

This number will undoubtedly rise. Not only should the offense run through Sengun more with Kevin Porter Jr. out, but he’s coming off of a killer triple-double.

Sengun gets to face the same weak Kings defense he did in that game, with the only drawback being his inconsistent floor time.

I do think that’s a concern, but that and his elevated price tag have people staying away from him for now. Of course, if we want to pay down at center, we are passing up the likes of Nikola Vucevic, Nikola Jokic, and/or Domantas Sabonis, potentially.

Do we want to ignore those studs and pay for a more volatile option? It all depends on your NBA DFS build process, but it’s difficult to ignore that alarming ownership percentage.

Kyle Kuzma, F, Washington Wizards ($8.7k)

  • Present Ownership per RG: 4.2%

This one is partially due to nobody yet knowing the status of the injured Wiz players. Obviously if Kristaps Porzingis and/or Daniel Gafford are in tonight, Kuz isn’t very appealing.

However, if either are out, we have to consider that Bradley Beal is also still sidelined.

Kuz would retain a pretty large role, and right now he’s being passed up for players who are arguably over-priced.

I’d imagine Kuz gets a big ownership percentage boost if Zinger is out, but I’d pay close attention to his number as lineup lock nears.
