Panthers Injury News: Diontae Johnson Hurts Foot

The Carolina Panthers added former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson to bolster their receiving corps this off-season. It’s possible they may have just lost him.

Johnson reportedly exited practice on Tuesday, needing to be helped off the turf after hurting his foot or ankle.

He then walked to the sidelined with a limp, per Panthers beat writers, and didn’t return to the field.

This is very likely minor, but if it’s an injury that forces Johnson to miss any amount of time, it’d provide a substantial hit to a Carolina offense that was already projected to be bad.

Second-year signal caller Bryce Young would take a hit in terms of floor and ceiling, with the only good news coming for Johnson’s fellow receiver mates.

It could keep Adam Thielen relevant for another season, while rookie receiver Xavier Legette could make a big impact a lot quicker if he sees the field more.

With a mild sprain being the most likely outcome, you can probably still safely select Diontae Johnson in 2024 fantasy football drafts. In theory, he remains a fantastic value as Carolina’s expected WR1.
