Top 3 MLB DFS Stacks to Target at Draft Kings – 6/5/2023

The Texas Rangers have ruled our lives in daily fantasy baseball lately. That hopefully changes on Monday, but it’s worth noting they’re once again viable on a seven-game slate.

Texas is a fine try at home against Adam Wainwright, but I’ll lead you down a few different paths for the Draft Kings mains slate on 6/5.

With that, here are my top three MLB DFS stacks for Monday evening.

Detroit Tigers

Aaron Nola is shaping up to be potential chalk on a messy pitching slate. He’s been at his best at home and this is clearly a smash spot for him, but this is largely a leverage play.

Put simply; Nola will garner ownership, and the Tigers will not.

In addition, Detroit gets a big park boost here, and Nola has not been elite in 2023. He also has been prone to meltdowns, so even if he handles the Tigers early, I worry about an unraveling.

I wouldn’t go hard at Detroit. This is a bad spot for them across the board. But if everyone flocks to the not-so-stable Nola, I have no issue taking some stabs at the ultimate leverage stack.

Milwaukee Brewers

I really like the Brew Crew tonight. Not only are they in a hitter’s paradise and have been in good form in this series in Cincinnati, but they could go overlooked tonight.

Why? Because uber-hyped Reds pitching prospect Andrew Abott makes his highly-anticipated debut on Monday.

To be fair, Abott is hard to get away from. He’s been sensational in the minors, he’s an elite prospect, he’s insanely cheap $4k) and the Brewers are a fantastic matchup.

But that also means Abott could be the chalky SP2 at Draft Kings, which in turn should help lower Milwaukee’s ownership.

The Brewers whiff a ton against southpaws, but they do hit the ball hard and picking on pitchers making their MLB debut can have it’s perks. I’d look at Abott’s ownership. If he’s mega chalk, firing up the Brewers could make a lot of sense.

St. Louis Cardinals

With the Rangers potentially gaining attention due to their recent explosions, I might pivot to the other side of their game and make the Cardinals one of my top MLB DFS stacks.

In all fairness, Martin Perez is not the gas can he once was. Still, he sports a weak 16% K rate and he can be had by righty power.

The Cards certainly have the ammunition to take him down from that side of the plate, too.

St. Louis has not always delivered in great spots this year, and Perez is your classic “just survive” lefty.

However, I really like the numbers for St. Louis here, and they’re an interesting leverage stack if Texas garners a lot of ownership.

Chicago Cubs

Lastly, I like the Cubs as one of the best MLB DFS stacks for Monday night. This is admittedly another dicey spot, as they’re on the road against a capable lefty in Blake Snell.

Snell could come out and slay to the tune of 10+ strikeouts here, but he still has an alarming walk rate (13.7%!!), and has some pretty nasty reverse splits this season.

He’s also not really inducing a ton of groundballs, and he’s getting hit pretty hard when he gives up contact.

I’d still side with righties like Patrick Wisdom here, but a full Cubs stack is very much in play.

That does it for Monday’s MLB DFS stacks. I am going rogue here a bit, as most of the options here should be lower-owned. That’s what you want when trying to score a takedown in tourneys, though.

Aim for the fences, and may the wind be at the back of your bats. Or whatever. Good luck!
