Top Thursday Night Football DFS Picks for Week 2 – Best Plays for Vikings vs. Eagles
Thursday Night Football is back with the start of week two, and the Minnesota Vikings will seek some revenge against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Philly embarrassed the Vikes on primetime television last week, and now Minny enters the second game of the season a bit desperate after falling to the Buccaneers in week two.
You don’t care about the narratives, though. You’re just here for some solid Thursday Night Football DFS picks. I’ve got you covered, as I’ll go over the best plays, some sneaky Captain options, and my favorite lineup for TNF in week two at Draft Kings.
Top TNF DFS Picks
- Justin Jefferson, WR, Vikings
- Jalen Hurts, QB, Eagles
- A.J. Brown, WR, Eagles
- DeVonta Smith, WR, Eagles
These are easily the best plays if you’re looking for the top week 2 Thursday Night Football DFS picks.
They’re also the most expensive, but these are the guys with the best roles and the most upside on this Showdown slate.
It also means they’ll be among the most popular. Of the foursome, Smith will likely be the least owned, so if you like them all, sliding him into the Captain slot could be interesting.
Most TNF DFS lineups will pair Jefferson and Hurts to start, but when you look at defensive focus, game flow, and injury possibility, fading one of those guys or looking for a contrarian Captain option may be a good idea.
That said, you probably need at least two of the guys above in the majority of your week 2 TNF DFS lineups at Draft Kings.
Best Thursday Night Football Sleepers
- K.J. Osborn, WR, Vikings
- Rashaad Penny, RB, Eagles
- Ty Chandler, RB, Vikings
- Josh Oliver, TE, Vikings
Osborn isn’t exactly priced as a true DFS sleeper, but he’s also not crazy expensive, and he’s a sleeper in the fact that he will probably go overlooked.
There are legit five pass catchers that look more appealing than him on this slate, while even the running backs could end up being more involved than him.
While potentially true, he comes in at a projected 17% ownership for the entire slate. Considering how hard the Eagles will try to contain Jettas (and that Osborn saw 90% of the snaps last week), I like him a lot as a low-owned play.
The rest of these guys are legit TNF DFS values. They’re bargain bin guys, with Penny standing out the most with Kenny Gainwell ruled out.
Of course, most will flock to D’Andre Swift.
Penny was inactive last week, but he should see some action tonight. There is some risk involved, as D’Andre Swift and Boston Scott could also factor into the equation.
However, Swift feels like the way chalkier option, so I like the idea of rolling with Penny instead.
Chandler and Oliver are deep dives, but they’re also dirt cheap. Chandler saw a little work as Minnesota’s backup running back, and Oliver caught three balls in week one.
All of these guys are risky, but they are money savers and could be the final piece to the puzzle for winning TNF DFS lineups.
My Favorite Week 2 TNF DFS Lineup
- Captain: KJ Osborn ($7.5k)
- Flex: Jalen Hurts ($11.4k)
- Flex: DeVonta Smith ($9k)
- Flex: Rashaad Penny ($1.6k)
- Flex: A.J. Brown ($10.6k)
- Flex: Kirk Cousins ($9.2k)
Call me crazy, but I think we get a good game out of Kirk Cousins tonight. The narrative that he’s bad in big games or can’t excel in primetime situations is a bit tired and noisy.
However, to get way different than the field, I’ll fade the best player available and keep Jettas sidelined. I am sure he still does well, but banking on a quiet game and sliding Osborn into the Captain slot is a really unique way to attack this slate.
To be clear, if you’re doing 150 lineups, I am probably rostering Jefferson 90% or more. I just want to take a shot at a special lineup here.
Osborn sees a ton of snaps, and he’ll get the softest coverage of anyone in this game. I’ll pair him with Cousins, who could end up being low owned due to so many great options on this slate.
One of my favorite week 2 TNF DFS picks is Penny, and I’ll also use him over the chalky Swift. He’s really cheap and I think he’s a good bet to see 10+ touches in this spot.
A Brown and Hurts stack runs it back from the other side, and you can also include Smith like I am.
This is a wide open Thursday Night Football DFS slate. There are so many viable options, and I haven’t even really touched on the tight ends or Jordan Addison. I also don’t hate Alexander Mattison here.
Remember, the lineup I am suggesting is very contrarian. If you want to be a bit safer, find a way to get Jefferson in here.
That said, Osborn and Penny are two of my favorite contrarian Captain picks. For most lineups, I’d just slide Jettas or Hurts in there.
Good luck!
