Shohei Ohtani batting for the Angels

Top 4 MLB DFS Stacks to Use at Draft Kings on Monday, 8/14/23

I’ve been away from the daily fantasy baseball stacks scene for a bit. Work is one monster that keeps me busy, like most everyone else, but I’ve also kept things light and focused on MLB tiers.

Monday offers a pretty nice 8-game slate, though, and this feels like the perfect time to dive back into it.

If you’re unsure how to approach this slate and need some good MLB DFS stacks to get behind, I’ll point you to some of the best offenses to use at Draft Kings. You can also check out some of the best individual MLB DFS picks for 8/14.

Here’s my favorite three for Monday night’s main slate.

Los Angeles Angels

Could Mad Max come out and pitch a gem? Of course, but the aging veteran has not been his usual dominant self in 2023.

Scherzer can be gotten to, and it’s especially interesting that he is struggling mightily against left-handed hitters this year.

One look at RotoGrinders.com’s PlateIQ reveals alarming numbers:

That guarantees nothing, and it’s absolutely worth noting that the Halos are not yet at full strength, and they also harbor plenty of strikeouts in their lineup.

At worst, you’re free to play Shohei Ohtani here, but at best, the Angels do have some capable lefty bats and collectively make for an interesting stack.

It’s unclear just how popular Mad Max will be on this slate, but if he’s somehow chalk, the Halos look even more appealing.

Arizona Diamondbacks

Coors Field isn’t always what we want it to be, but anytime you have a good offense there, it has to be something you consider.

Arizona bats will understandably be pricey, and there’s a decent chance they’re also chalky. You can always differentiate by using less popular pieces of their lineup, or just eat the chalk and make your MLB DFS lineups stand out another way.

Regardless, the D’Backs have a good amount of power, their K numbers are solid, and they get to face Chris Flexen in a great ballpark.

Everyone will be on the Diamondbacks tonight, but for very good reason. I may end up eating the chalk here, and simply try to get different at SP2 and/or with my secondary stack.

Seattle Mariners

Since Arizona should get a lot of our attention, just about any other stack could potentially float under the field’s radar.

There are a few MLB DFS stacks that could (or at least should) catch our eye, however, and one of them absolutely is Seattle.

The Mariners are on the road in a historically pitcher-friendly park, but they offer lots of power and get a very beatable righty in Brady Singer.

Singer doesn’t walk many batters, but he has a weak strikeout rate against all batters and gives up a ton of hard contact.

The Royals pitcher has actually been rock solid lately, but I think there’s a good chance the wheels come off tonight.

St. Louis Cardinals

The last team making my top MLB DFS stacks list for Monday is going to be the Cards. St. Louis is always capable of going off, and tonight they face JP Sears.

Sears has a decent K rate against righties and won’t walk many batters from that side, but he has also gotten lit up in the power department.

St. Louis has had an up and down season, but they’ve turned it on lately with 5+ runs in each of their last four contests.

They also have a slew of talented right-handed hitters that could exploit this matchup.

Even their bats from the left side of the plate are in play here, as Sears has an awful 8% dip in K rate against lefties, and also gives up a staggering .392 wOBA.

Across the board, the matchup looks worth attacking for the Cardinals here.

Finding the Best MLB DFS Stacks on Monday

It’s not always easy to pinpoint which MLB offenses will go off. If it were, we’d all be rich. That said, I personally like to look for a combination of park factor, pitching matchup, and data to point me in the right direction.

Ownership won’t be the deciding factor, but it does play into my decision-making if that particular slate comes down to a close call.

Arizona does stand out as my top MLB DFS stack for this slate, but I’d consider all four options above tonight.

You can stretch your neck and look elsewhere, too. Just try to make sure whatever teams you stack have good reasoning behind them. Good luck!
