Giancarlo Stanton of the Yankees warming up

Play These 3 MLB DFS Stacks at Draft Kings on Wednesday (2/21/23)

Wednesday offers up a timid six-game daily fantasy baseball slate at Draft Kings, and it may be shrinking.

The Mariners are scheduled to take on the Yankees, but that game should get a nice dose of rain. It’s not yet a PPD risk, but it’s certainly one to monitor.

That said, I like one of the teams in that game as one of my top MLB DFS stacks for Wednesday night at Draft Kings. Let’s see who else joins them.

New York Yankees

Again, this game could have really bad weather (plus the wind is blowing in), but nobody will be on the Yanks. In fact, on a smaller slate, the guy they’re opposing (Luis Castillo) projects to be the highest own pitcher.

This is a pure leverage play – especially with Aaron Judge still out – but Yankee Stadium is a dangerous park for pitchers.

If everyone is going to be scared away by some rain, wind, and Castillo, stacking the Yanks honestly makes too much sense.

For what it’s worth, Castillo has not been as dominant on the road this year. Check out his home/road splits:

  • Fantasy Points: 24.1/15.7
  • Record: 4-2/0-3
  • HR: 3/6
  • Ks: 67/31
  • WHIP: 0.88/1.28
  • BAA: .169/.254

He’s still been very good, and this is a bad weather game with New York still missing a monster bat in Aaron Judge.

However, in MLB DFS, ownership plays remain a thing and the best way to get an edge immediately on this slate is to fade Castillo and/or stack the Yanks.

San Diego Padres

The Cleveland Guardians are once again popping in the models at RotoGrinders.com, so if there’s a chance they are chalky on this slate, I’ll be running for the hills.

Even if you like them, the Padres still stand out as one of the best daily fantasy baseball stacks tonight.

San Diego always carries upside with their bats, but tonight they’re scheduled to take on Sean Manaea, who has had a brutal season. He’s sporting a ghastly 5.84 ERA and has given up a .226 ISO and .350 wOBA to all hitters in 2023.

Needless to say, it’s worth wondering if San Francisco has been using him correctly.

He’s especially vulnerable against righties, but you can cap stacks off with Juan Soto and Jake Cronenworth without much hesitance.

The right side is nasty in this spot, though.

Tatis and Sanchez rule from the right side when it comes to their ISO numbers, while even Soto has been crushing the ball against southpaws.

The numbers aren’t intimidating for righties like Manny or Xander, but they historically hit lefties very well, so I wouldn’t shy away from them in the least.

Los Angeles Angels

My last MLB DFS stack for Wednesday night will be the Halos. You could get cute and roll with the Dodgers on the other side, but I’d rather roster Shohei Ohtani than target him on this slate.

The Angels have a way better matchup against Michael Grove, who has not been great (8.10 ERA) and got absolutely lit up in his last outing.

We can’t predict a similar outcome again necessarily, but Grove sports a gruesome .276 ISO and .405 wOBA so far this season, and he gets hit awfully hard.

The Halos aren’t a team you want numbers like that against. Mike Trout and Ohtani get the party started, but Brandon Drury, Hunter Renfroe, Jared Walsh, Taylor Ward, and Mickey Moniak all have the power to make this a short night for the Dodgers pitcher.

These are the three MLB DFS stacks I’ll be targeting the most at Draft Kings tonight. Don’t forget there is also an early daily fantasy baseball slate tonight.

Whichever slate you play, I wish you luck!
