4 MLB DFS Stacks to Target at Draft Kings on 5/3/2023
My MLB DFS stacks have had some success lately, and I’m back for Wednesday night’s main slate to push out a few more winners.
This is a slate where you have to decide whether or not to eat the chalk in Coors, while there could be some upside in picking on some talented arms.
There are a lot of daily fantasy baseball stacks to consider on an 8-game slate, but that equates to 16 possible offenses. Here’s four that you should consider stacking ahead of the rest.
Milwaukee Brewers
This is a great stack, even though it’ll be really chalky. The Brew Crew failed last night, but they’re at Coors Field once again, and we can’t ignore that.
Tonight they get Kyle Freeland, who predictably has struggled in four starts at this park in 2023:
- 9.7 fantasy points per game
- 1-2 record
- 12 earned runs
- 5.06 ERA
None of that guarantees the Brewers are the top MLB DFS stack for Wednesday, but it also doesn’t hurt.
Milwaukee strikes out a lot and their 2023 numbers against southpaws aren’t encouraging. However, they have several bats who historically fair well against lefties, and Freeland has gotten lit up by right-handed hitters this year.
The best reason to fade the Brewers is that they should be chalky. But other than that, they look really good again tonight.
Minnesota Twins
People are probably annoyed with the Twins, as they looked awesome last night and ended up scoring just two runs.
It’s possible it’s more of the same tonight, especially since they go up against Dylan Cease. That said, Cease has struggled lately, with his most recent effort coming up short against the Rays.
Cease produced -3.6 fantasy points in that one, and hasn’t topped 13 fantasy points in any of his last three starts.
Minnesota whiffs a lot, but Cease is shaping up as the top chalk for pitching and this team can hit the ball hard. They’ll be unowned due to Cease’s popularity on this slate, so they’re the ultimate leverage stack.
Seattle Mariners
This could be a really fun stack. The Mariners offer loads of power when facing lefties, and they get a beatable one in Sears.
Sears has a middling K rate, and he’s gotten abused by right-handed power (.203 ISO) over the last two years. The strikeout rate has spiked in 2023, but the issues against righties have only gotten worse.
The one reason to shy away from this stack? The weather.
Right now, it looks like this game is fine, but as Kevin Roth points out on his weather report, if you stack these guys and the game is in trouble, you’re kind of trapped.
The good news? They are in a smash spot and the weather could allow them to be super overlooked.
Baltimore Orioles
It’s Zack Greinke night! The guy used to be a very good starting pitcher, but those days are long gone, as he now struggles to miss bats and gives up all kinds of hard contact.
He sports an ugly 6.10 ERA and has allowed seven dongs already in 2023, while he’s gotten specifically lit up in each of his last four starts (3+ runs allowed in each).
Baltimore looks very good tonight. They have a lineup full of guys who hit the ball hard, while Greinke is giving up production to both sides of the plate.
The park isn’t amazing and the ISO numbers aren’t off the charts for the Orioles, but it’s still a fantastic spot. The lone concern is the O’s may be heavily owned.
There, you have my top MLB DFS stacks for Wednesday’s main slate at Draft Kings. There are more offenses worth targeting, but I’d start with these four squads.
Thanks for stopping by, and good luck!
