Bulls News: Lonzo Ball Expected to Play in 2024-25
The wait may finally be over. After numerous knee surgeries and multiple setbacks, Chicago Bulls star point guard Lonzo Ball is expected to return to the court during the 2024-25 NBA season.
Recent whispers regarding Ball’s status suggested as much, but the beleaguered superstar only recently made the news semi-official in a chat with TMZ.
Ball has faced a difficult road back to 100% health, but he’s been spotted moving around well in workouts and started 5-on-5 this month. He’s even eyeing Chicago’s season opener.
It’s a feel good story for the 26-year old former #2 overall draft pick. The only issue is he hasn’t played a single minute in two years and he’s also never played more than 63 games in a season.
Ball may have already been replaced at the lead guard spot, too. Coby White was a revelation last year, Zach LaVine is still in town, and the Bulls even traded for star swingman Josh Giddey.
Is there a place for Ball in Chicago? It remains unclear, but if he can prove that he’s made a full recovery, he could force his way out of town and be another team’s franchise point guard.
For now, this could lower the stock of White and Giddey, and we shouldn’t get too excited about Ball’s fantasy prospects just yet. It’s a nice report to read, though, and Ball’s presence only helps Chicago’s overall depth.
