Giannis Antetokounmpo

4 Best NBA DFS Picks for Saturday, 3/4/23

Saturday projects to be a wild daily fantasy basketball slate. I am sure more injury news will come out, but as things stand, the Detroit Pistons and San Antonio Spurs are the only obvious sources of value.

Trusting in cheaper options from those teams never feels good, so there could be an opportunity to gain leverage on the field in some spots. Of course, some of these guys will simply be good plays, while more value could open up.

For now, I’ll break down my favorite NBA DFS picks for Saturday night’s five-game main slate at Draft Kings.

Tre Jones, PG, San Antonio Spurs ($5k)

You can pair Jones with Devonte’ Graham, but I will likely just use one of them, and roster the lower-owned option.

They both should get a boost with a slew of Spurs out tonight, however. In fact, that plays into the narrative that neither side really wants to win tonight’s tilt.

That’s something to keep in mind, but the reality is the Spurs are super shorthanded for this one.

I’ll also be looking at Zach Collins and Jeremy Sochan, but Jones will handle the rock a ton and is the cheapest of that trio.

All Spurs are on the table in a beautiful matchup with the lowly Houston Rockets.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, F/C, Milwaukee Bucks ($12.3k)

The top stud on this slate is easily The Greek Freak. He sports the slate’s best raw fantasy points projection, he has the highest ceiling, and he’ll be motivated to perform against the rival 76ers.

His minutes have been tough to trust lately, but he’ll be needed in this one. Giannis has also done well in this matchup, averaging 55.4 fantasy points per game across two meetings this season.

Unless he’s randomly ruled out, he’s my top spend up option and on a smaller slate, I don’t want to get cute and fade him.

Kevin Love, F/C, Miami Heat ($5.2k)

A few Miami players could look appealing tonight. Kyle Lowry is already out again, but forward Jimmy Butler is also listed as questionable to suit up against the Atlanta Hawks.

He offered a fairly ominous quote about playing on the second leg of B2B sets, too.

Butler could tough it out, but he could just as easily sit this one out. If he does, virtually all Heat options look too discounted for a pretty good matchup.

Love is someone who would give you more savings than others, however, and the possible absence of Butler could push him into more minutes than usual.

Max Strus would also be viable, while paying up for Tyler Herro or Bam Adebayo would be appealing.

Hamidou Diallo, G/F, Detroit Pistons ($4.5k)

Another popular cheap option could be Diallo, A lot of Pistons players look appealing on this small slate, as they’re all fairly cheap.

That, and the team’s top scorer won’t be available against a tough Cavaliers defense.

I don’t have too much interest in Detroit’s main starters given the tough matchup. However, Diallo coming off the bench would definitely interest me.

For the rest of my NBA DFS lineups, I am looking for more value, and also trying to get to some Rockets to run it back with any Spurs I roster. Getting some exposure to the last game of the night (Wolves vs. Kings) also makes good sense.

Hopefully my top NBA DFS plays help you out tonight. Good luck!
